Mary-Kate OlsenMary-Kate Olsen, 21, will share a steamy on-screen kiss with 63-year-old Ben Kingsley in the upcoming film The Wackness. Kingsley, who once played Ghandi, describe the kiss as “very passionate.” The controversial kiss is already getting attention, though the movie isn’t slated for release until next year – and the scene in question was filmed only last week. SuperbadIf you’ve somehow managed to miss the Superbad trailers that pepper every available hour of broadcasting, you just don’t watch enough TV. Superbad has a super-huge advertising budget, and no expense has been spared to show funny one-liners to TV viewing audiences. But…is it worth all the hype? Knocked Up star Seth Rogen co-wrote the flick and appears onscreen as a hilarious, out of shape police officer. Early reviews say that Superbad is indeed hilarious – but lacks the sweet sentiment that made Knocked Up such a hit.

Rush Hour 3

Spider-Man 3, Shrek the Third, Pirates, Ocean’s, Bourne and now Rush Hour 3.  All six three-quels premiered directly at the top of the heap this summer.

Unfortunately, a six-year gap between the second and third Rush installments may have led to what some would consider slightly disappointing receipts.  On any other occasion, a $50 weekend would be something to brag about.  But considering it pales to the $67.4 million brought in by the 2001 predecessor, it’s only worth a pat on the back.

But really, the Disappointment of the Week honor should really fall on Cuba Gooding Jr.  When you’re accepting rejected scripts from the man who played Norbit, you have to wonder where it all went wrong (two words: Chill Factor).  Sadly, Daddy Day Camp was originally slated to be a straight-to-video release but somehow tested well enough to be released in theaters.  Who knows?  Maybe Gooding can pull a Halle and go straight-from-Oscar-to-Razzie.

Voltron punchAfter the resounding success of this year’s Transformers, it seems the animated-robot genre has been officially revived.  Voltron, a 1984 animated series about five space explorers, their beastly robot cars, and the eponymous, significantly larger robot they all become, is on its way to the big screen with Voltron: Defender of the Universe.  After years on the shelf, Transformers has suddenly given the project a bit more appeal, and according to producer Mark Gordon, it’s going to be big.

Screenwriter Justin Marks has tweaked the original storyline, setting the film on a post-apocalyptic Earth where five survivors of an alien invasion take control of some lion-shaped robots to stop the next attack.  Marks, a self-proclaimed fan of the series, has also penned another 80s-inspired script soon to hit the screen: Masters of the Universe in 2009.

As special effects inch ever closer to photorealism, who can help but be excited about another cherished childhood cartoon coming to life on the big screen?  Look for Voltron: Defender of the Universe in theaters next year.

Anne Hathaway as Jane Austen, 24-year-old actress, has come a long way since she gained notice in Disney’s two Princess Diaries flicks. Since then, Hathaway appeared in the critically-acclaimed Brokeback Mountain, and acted opposite Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada. Now, Hathaway is starring in Becoming Jane, the semi-fictional Jane Austen flick scheduled for release today…but is Anne Hathaway ready to become an A-list star?

There was a point during production when Hathaway seriously considered walking away from Becoming Jane, which is loosely based on the life of novelist Jane Austen. To the delight of moviegoers, Hathaway stuck with the project, though she did have to do a lot of research for the part. The actress had to learn to speak in an English accent and study the customs of the late 18th century just to play the role. Though Becoming Jane is certainly about a real person living in a real time, the movie itself is not based on actual events.
